From a Distance: An Ethics of Image Construction

Alt Art Space, Istanbul
March 9, 2016

Alt begins its series of events, scheduled to happen every second and fourth Wednesday and Sunday of the month, with the talk "From a Distance: An Ethics of Image Construction." Artist Hasan Özgür Top, whose work is featured in the exhibition "If you can't go through the door, go through the window," has invited World Press Photo-winner photo-journalist Emin Özmen to join him for a conversation that will take place on March 9th at 19:00.

Taking Top's work "A Gift from the Middle East" (2013) as a point of departure, the talk will examine the issue of ethics of journalism by way of mentioning a short history of images of violence. Top and Özmen will also consider the relation people from different regions of the world have with images of war.

The talk will be held in Turkish.
