FROM GUANTANAMO TO RAQQAH

Installation, 2015, Digital print on wallpaper, Variable dimension

From Guantanamo to Raqqah is made by combining two shades of orange from two digital images:
One from a photograph of an anonymous prisoner in Guantanamo wearing an orange uniform, and the other from a video released by the Islamic State showing the murder of James Foley, wearing an orange uniform.
A Salafi-jihadist organization “waging war on the modern world” and the United States, which claims to bring peace to the world by destroying this organization, ironically unite in the same color, blend into each other, spread over the surface of the entire wall and the world.
They do not leave space for another color.
