Film Duration: 37’20″

First Revolt: The Black Cave (The Disappearance of Professor Mehmet Yılmaz) is the story of the earliest known uprising in human history and of Professor Mehmet Yılmaz, who uncovered the cave art depicting this rebellion.
The story is told through an installation that includes reproductions of these artworks and a film.
The mockumentary film features interviews with Professor Yılmaz, his mother Meltem, and fellow researchers, discussing the cultural and historical significance of the discovery.
The film explores the staggering impact that the discovery of the cave art has had on the Western-centered perspective of civilization and the progressive view of history, as well as the current role of Western state institutions and the blurry boundary between speculation and scientific knowledge.
